The Project
This purpose built building was commissioned by the Church of England to house, and make more accessible, the most important collection of religious artefacts outside the Vatican.
The ambition was to create a building that was as sustainable and future proofing as possible, whilst being sensitive to its Grade I listed location.
Our concept focused on a discrete and durable specification that would ensure longevity and security for the Public Library and its collection.

A key objective was to create a simple build to make the collection more accessible to the public, affordable and for long term.
With this in mind, we specified durable, core products that fulfil the need for good, robust, long-lasting and simple design.

For such a specialist and significant archive, security was key. Working with all of the project consultants we drew on our expertise to ensure a clear understanding when specifying all forms of access control solutions, to ensure the different types of users had the right access.

As a space that accommodates and brings together public, education and professional users, we needed to ensure our specification focussed on simple products that offer an inclusive approach to access.

Our push plates come as standard with either square and 10mm radius corners however we are often asked to create bespoke plates with an increased radius to match specific project requirements.
A satin finish is any that results in a surface featuring a more brushed appearance.
