The Project
Positioned in the heart of the Harley Street Medical Area, 27-29 Harley Street comprises two buildings that have undergone extensive redevelopment.
Working alongside Howard De Walden Estates, Sonnemann Toon Architects designed the scheme to deliver a single, self-contained healthcare building combining both traditional consulting rooms and new grade A medical accommodation.
Much like previous projects on Harley Street 3V were given two separate briefs for this project which related to the use of the different parts of the building.
As a Grade II listed building 29 Harley Street required a sympathetic restoration, all chosen ironmongery needed to work alongside the history of the building while remaining appropriate for the traditional Harley Street style consulting rooms.
Products supplied included traditional knob furniture and accessories finished in Imperial brass unlacquered for the traditional areas.
In contrast 27 Harley Street, which was redeveloped behind the retained facade, required a practical and easily maintained product appropriate for the new cutting-edge medical facility with full diagnostics suites and/or theatres.
Satin stainless steel ironmongery was specified for these medical areas and all the accessories were carefully chosen in matching or sympathetic finishes.
Safety is imperative in environments such as healthcare settings. Thats why we recommended 812 safety lever handles, that return back towards the door reducing the likelihood of user belongings catching on the doors and slowing the exit in an emergency.
Stainless steel has a smooth, non-porous surface that’s easy to clean. There are no holes for dirt, bacteria, and other contaminants to accumulate in which makes it perfect for medical settings.
Alongside door ironmongery 3V supplied all window fittings.
“We had the pleasure of working with 3V on the recently completed refurbishment of 27-29 Harley Street, which included both listed elements and newly built areas. 3V’s approach was highly bespoke, providing tailored ironmongery solutions that seamlessly integrated with the existing historical fittings. They were able not only to match the original ironmongery but also to propose a range of solutions that met modern functionality and safety standards, while preserving the building’s original appearance. Their attention to detail was exceptional, making them an ideal partner in balancing heritage sensitivity with contemporary needs. We highly recommend 3V for any project requiring complex ironmongery solutions.”
